2. What would happen to if the MICE in the food web above were eliminated from the ecosystem? Describe the populations directly affected. What would happen to the producers, tertiary consumers, herbivores, etc?
The populations wouldn't really change, because hawks, owls, snakes, and foxes have a varied diet, so if the mice ceased to exist, it wouldn't really, matter. The plant population wouldn't change a lot, because all of the other primary and secondary consumers will keep the plant population under control.
3. What would happen if the SPIDERS were eliminated from the food web above?
Well, it would be just like the mice. The bugs that it eats will be kept under control by the toads, and the bird that eats it can eat the bugs that the spider eats, too.
4. What would happen to the food web if the Insectivorous birds were eliminated? It would not be total chaos just little chaos. If the Insectivorous birds were eliminated the spiders and Insectivorous bugs might over populate a little bit, but since they eat each other that would take care of that. It is eaten by snakes and foxes but both of them have plenty of other things to eat so they would not die out.
. Where do decomposers fit into this food web?
Decomposers are not really represented very well in this food web. They would fit where herbivorous insects are because they are decomposers the rest of the animals/insects on the bottom row are producers and primary and secondary consumers.
6. List four different decomposers that could be found in any ecosystem.
fungi
sow bugs
earthworms
molds

Look at the food Web above. Organize the Web into different levels.
list the producers -seed-eating bird, herbivorous insects, squirrel
list the primary consumers -predaceous insects
list the secondary consumers-toads, mice, insectivorous birds, spider, rabbit
list the tertiary consumers -foxes, snakes, hawks and owls
What would happen to different populations if the Spiders disappeared?
What would happen to different populations if the Garter Snakes disappeared?
What would happen to different populations if the Hawks disappeared?
